New heating and cooling system with Megapress
Hotel Terme Neroniane is located in the spa area between Abano and Montegrotto, on the green slopes of the Euganei hills, Italy. Special amenities of the hotel include wellness treatments, large pools and an extensive park. In 2015, the historical wing of the four star hotel was demolished and rebuilt in order to offer state of the art rooms in terms of comfort and aesthetic quality. Rapid delivery of the complete project was necessary to keep the interference for the hotel at a minimum.
Rapid, simple and barely invasive assembly
In order to comply with the requirements, Viega supplied the Megapress system for the heating and cooling system. Megapress is the first press system for thick-walled steel pipes. It allows significant time savings that can be estimated to be up to 60% compared to traditional methods like welding.
In this specific case, Megapress has been used with epoxy coated steel pipes with diameters of 1”1/2, 1”1/4 and 1”. The work has been complicated in several points: overhead lines and cramped spaces in the attic have caused physical challenges for the Vigo S.r.l. installation team. “I am happy to have been able to use a press system. Megapress and the Viega press tools allowed me to avoid welding and with it, moving heavy gas bottles into positions that are difficult to reach,” commented the installer in charge of the work.
Pressing without risk
This advantage is supplemented by the rapidity of the pressing itself, in addition to the absence of flames with the consequent risk of fire. “Welding in the attic space with exposed wooden beams would have posed a great risk and required extensive fire prevention measures,” the installer continues.
